Bucks New University has a long history of training nurses and giving them the skills and practice-based experience they need to provide excellent patient care. Nursing and operating department practice are dynamic, people-focused professions, requiring not just technical and practical skills, but strong communication and management abilities.

With the changes happening in the NHS, our courses are helping to develop the practitioners of the future – ensuring they are excellently equipped to care for their patients, but also to thrive personally and professionally as an essential part of our health service. Through our School of Nursing & Allied Health, we work with the NHS, private and independent sector to produce competent and dynamic graduates. As well as our experienced team of lecturers, we have long-established links with NHS trusts, healthcare charities and private organisations. We also use our expertise to support the local community. For example, our mental health team are ‘dementia champions’. This involves running information sessions to improve people’s understanding of dementia and its impact.
